5 Things to Consider Before you Scrap Your Car

If you bought yourself a new car or if your old car is rusting in your front yard, scrapping it is the best thing you can do. It will be easy for you as well it will be good for the environment as well. Not many know that you can even cash in some money as well when you scrap a car.

Most do not bother to do anything about their old car because it is a whole lot of work to advertise it on the newspaper and speaking to the potential clients and make a final decision.

Here are some points you have to consider before you scrap your car.

Search for the buyers who can offer you the best deal

If you are expecting to scrap your car and cash in some money, you might as well offer it for the best buyer. Do a bit of research and see what is the best possible amount of cash you can claim for your car. Keep in mind the realistic condition of your car when you start your research.

Remove all the re-usable or saleable parts of the car

Scrap car joints are only interested in the metals of the car and they will be paying only the worth for the metal. So it is better if you remove the other parts and make some extra cash. If the tires are in good condition there is a high chance that you can find someone via the net who would want to buy them. Same goes for all the other parts of the car such as the headlights, car stereo, seats etc.

Call up the junk car removal services and find out what the procedure is like. If they charge you money for scrapping your car, it is not such a good sign. Generally the scrap car company pays out the money for the customers. So do not go for a company that will charge you.

Look for the companies that provide their services with the minimum of hassle for the customers. Find out if the company provides a certificate of destruction for your scrapped car. If your car is still in the running condition and if you do not get a certification of destruction, it might put you in a compromising situation. After scrapping your car if some other party uses it for sinister or illegal use the number plate of your scrapped car will lead to you and you will be held responsible.

Find out if your scrap car provider is an ethical scrapping service. As a responsible citizen it is better if you can make sure the scrap service is following the environmentally friend methods to scrap their vehicles and take the necessary steps to minimise your carbon foot print on the environment.

Also scrap car services do not always take the old cars that fail the Ministry of Transportation test. Even if your car is in good running condition you can dispose it to a scrap car service. So they will touch it up and will sell it. But in such a case make sure they do the necessary ownership transformation to take the car out of your hair.
