How to Avoid Buyer's Remorse

It is easy to make a large purchase only to regret it in the morning, especially when buying a car. Called buyer's remorse, it is not very likely the dealer will understand you bit off a little more than you can chew. There are a couple of scenarios where you may be able to get them to take the car back and get your money back.

Lemon laws will vary from state to state; however, most of them specify standards that elicit protection. Some states have laws that protect a buyer if the car has had four unsuccessful repair attempts for the same issue. The buyer must then informthe manufacturer in writing to ask for areplacement of the failed part. If the manufacturer does not respond to your request, you can start arbitration procedures. If the decision is not to your advantage, you may be able to file a lawsuit.

Lemon laws apply only for a regulated period, for instance up to one year after you buy it, and they usually apply only for autos that were purchased new. Lemon laws also set minimum criteria for the manufacturers' warranties.

Read your contract for a return policy and know what the conditions are to return the car. Most new car dealers have a sign on the wall that clearly states no returns. If you do have return policy make sure you follow all the constraints before returning the car. Make sure you keep all your documents in a safe place; you will need them if you are able to return the car. Ask the dealer about any return policies they may offer. Do not take the salesperson’s word; have it written on the policy.

If you want to return the car because of financial problems, contact your lender immediately. They are the only ones that can help you, whether it is a deferred payment or a repayment plan that may bring you current if you are behind on payments.

No matter the reason for the remorse, you may feel after that big purchase, trying to return it is really the last thing you want to do. Avoid the remorse by researching prices, lenders terms and most important know what you can afford on your budget. If you want to know your legal rights it's better to contact lemon law lawyer.
